  1. In short, what is the Institute for Family Sciences?
    It is a center specifically dedicated to the inter-disciplinary investigation of marriage and the family and the task of training and guiding university students as well as general public.

  2. Why is inter-disciplinarity emphasized?
    As the family is such a rich reality, its study needs the participation of many sciences: the family is the point where many disciplines converge.
    Thus; if we see it on towards its inside, we will need Psychology, Philosophical Anthropology, Moral, among others. If we see it towards the outside, we will need Sociology, Statistics, Demography, Law, Politics, etc. in this way, we could continue mentioning a series of sciences related to the family and its study.

  3. Why isn’t it just called “Family Institute”?
    Because the foundational idea of the Institute lays on the certainty of the need and usefulness of giving a scientific, rigorous, well-sustained answer to the multiples subjects and problems which both family and marriage have in the world, in the cultures and in the life of concrete people.
    The concept of “Family Sciences” contains a wide vision of the humanistic and scientific thematic which has to be its object of investigation and teaching at the Institute, in order to achieve a complete understanding of marriage and the family.

  4. How can the IFS help families in Perú overcome their problems?
    The Institute is committed to making a contribution from the world of sciences, its knowledge at the service of human kind and society, since it is convinced that the humanizing of society starts with the improvement of each marriage and each family.
    The Institute for Family Sciences will promote an intense scientific exchange which will intensify the enrichment of its investigation and teaching, and thus will empower projects about marriage and the family.
    These projects will then be turned to the family, through books, publications, seminars, which will help them find possible solutions to their problems.

  5. Does the IFS have its own researchers?
    No, there aren’t any researchers of the family. Any professor or investigation looking to find truth in these subjects, from his/her field of expertise, will find the doors of the Institute wide opened.
    No professor or investigator is blind to the great questions posed by humanity, due to this the IFS promotes being a meeting point and sponsor of team work with the aim of enriching and empowering projects related to marriage and the family.

  6. Are you going to train other people outside the University environment?
    As the result of the activity of University professors, the IFS will offer Courses and Seminars for students, university students and parents in general on specific topics needing deep study. For instance, consensus in the family, communication between parents and their children, orientation of small children and adults, how to improve affective relationships, etc.
    Each semester offers will be made and a selection will be conducted according to the participants’ profiles.

  7. Are you going to have a staff of experts, who will can talk to about any doubts or problems?
    The IFS has no experts or researchers of its own, it nourishes itself from the teaching activity and investigation of the professors of the different academic centers of the University. Through them specific questions can be answered.

  8. Will the IFS have bureaus or family therapies?
    In the future we are planning to consolidate a unit of family and conjugal therapy, but unfortunately not in the short run.
